GPS163 Features & Benefits
Overview
GPS163 is a sixteen way, N Type, GPS signal splitter with sixteen (16) DC block ports furnished with 200 ohm internal load. This model is ideal for splitting a common GPS antenna signal or GPS simulator signal between up to sixteen (16) receivers while blocking the DC current path from all GPS receivers. A special feature is the 200 ohm internal load that provides a current drain for the GPS receivers not powering the antenna while maintaining optimum 50 ohm impedance match and excellent RF performance at all ports. Some GPS receivers will incorrectly sense an antenna fault when there is no current draw (due to the DC block). Max voltage rating at the DC blocked ports is 15 VDC; maximum current rating is 75 mA.
Electrical
The heart of the unit is a precision designed and etched Wilkinson type microstrip circuit on a low loss, high frequency, dielectric substrate. Electrical performance is highlighted by 1.4 dB max insertion loss (above the 12.04 dB power split), 22 dB min isolation, 1.50:1 max input VSWR and 1.20:1 max output port VSWR. Equal power split and symmetry is displayed by 0.6 dB amplitude balance and 8 degrees phase balance. Narrow band GPS performance in your band of interest may be even better. See 16 way GPS splitter test sweeps for details. DC block and 200 ohm internal load are specially designed to be RF transparent with negligable effect on performance.
Mechanical
Mechanical features include precision CNC, brass, 50 ohm N type female coaxial connectors with tri alloy plating to ensure tarnish resistance and low PIM operation. Connector pins are gold plated phosphor bronze for reliability and low contact resistance. Virgin electrical grade PTFE support insulators captivate the contact pins enabling trouble free coaxial connector mating. Long term operation and superior shielding is assured by the rugged CNC machined aluminum housing with clear chemical film finish. Secure mounting is provided by four 0.125" diameter (3.18 mm) through holes. RoHS construction includes no-lead solder and a finish free of hexavalent chromium.
Physical
Housing dimensions are 15.98" wide by 3.48" deep by 0.88" high (405.9 x 88.4 x 22.2 mm). The N type female (jack) connectors extend 0.65" (16.5 mm) from the housing. Operating temperature range is from -65°C to +85°C. Weight is 1920 grams. See 16 way GPS splitter outline drawing for more information.
Applications
Model GPS163 is a 16-way, passive, type N, GNSS splitter covering all frequencies from 1000 to 2000 MHz with best-in-class performance for GPS L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and IRNSS global navigation satellite positioning system applications, and is deployed worldwide.
